Hello! Candice~Marie (Momma of the Homestead Prowlers) here!
Allan (PawPaw of the HPs) and I have been trying to get out and go do something away from the Pure Glory Homestead. We went to a Polka Festival a few weeks ago which was really fun! Last weekend we decided to check out the Bergsbaken Sunflower Fest. Had I realized they are open everyday and you can visit between dawn and dusk I would have waited because it was very crowded for the fest. They said that last year 40,000 people attended. Whoa!
They have 70 acres of sunflowers. I had only seen something like that in the movies so I had to go see it. They had a trail we followed and viewing platforms along the way. Here is what we saw.

There were also lots of pollinators which was great to see! Going to see this beautiful crop in all it’s glory really has inspired me to expand our gardens and to grow more of the things we enjoy.
Now, Otis wanted to get in on the Sunflower action and here he is at the Pure Glory Homestead being Otis (40 seconds of Otis action)!
Thanks for stopping by and we’ll talk to you real soon!

They were so gorgeous! I read people come from all over to see these fields, even from overseas. I had no idea! Have a great afternoon. 🌻

Those are amazing! So beautiful!!
I was at a pioneer farm a few years ago, and they had a small field of sunflowers, but nothing like the place you were at!
The squirrels have taken all mine down…they were just volunteers under the bird feeders.
Otis really wanted to have at that Monarch!

I am so glad Otis missed out on that Monarch! Sorry, Otis, LOL! A little bit to my dismay, the yellow finches, other finches, woodpeckers and another small bird I don’t recognize are going crazy for my sunflower seeds. Not a good combo with Otis The Killer hanging around. 🤯

I have goldfinches, chickadees, 2 kinds of nuthatches, titmouse, various woodpeckers, and even sparrows who want to eat the seeds right off the sunflower heads. The blue jays and cardinals would but they are a little large and not able to hang on upsidedown like the woodpeckers. Now they all have to settle for the feeders…LOL!
