Zoe Cat Takes Up Chiropterology

Hi! Momma here!

Zoe surprised us when she informed us she was interested in becoming a Chiropterologist. Ok, maybe we weren’t that surprised!

Chiropterologist ~ Someone who studies bats.

Chiropterology ~ The scientific study of bats.

Here on our property in Wisconsin we have seen the Little Brown Bat and the Big Brown Bat. These two often roost together, too. There are other types of bats in Wisconsin but we haven’t seen them so far.

We are currently in the process of planning a few bat houses to put out in the Marsh area behind our house. We would like to place them where we know the Prowlers can’t get to them and out in the watery part of the Marsh is going to work out great!

Living by the Marsh is beautiful but very buggy so we would love to attract the bats so they can eat them all up. It’s great, birds eat the bugs during the day and bats eat them at night. Heck, Zoe even eats bugs. In fact she enjoys them quite immensely ~ lots of protein to support her obligate carnivore system!

Thanks for stopping by and we’ll talk to you real soon!

If you love cats and their antics please come visit the Homestead Prowlers on YouTube, Rumble or BitChute. We are also on GAB.

  1. We LOVE bats! They used to live under the shakes on the high school’s siding in our little village. When it came time to replace the siding, the kids and the shop teacher built bat houses and put them up in a field behind the school and all over town so the bats would have new homes. And it worked wonderfully. It is amazing to watch the bats swooping over the river during the evenings. The cats are fascinated watching them through the windows.

  2. Out in the marsh is wonderful -where lots of mosquitoes will breed, and where the bats won’t be tempted to move into your buildings.

  4. We see a lot of bats here in the evenings. Once I had one in my apartment…yikes!

And when we were newlyweds, one morning we came down to a very crazed Groucho (kitty). there was a bat in our living room!! We caught it in a towel and released it…hope it found its way back to its buddies to roost.
