We are participating in the Pet Bloggers Journey sponsored by Puppy In Training. If you would like to participate, you can find the information HERE.
Below, you will find answers to 10 questions about the Homestead Prowlers blog and hopefully get to know us a bit more.
🐈
When did you begin your blog and what do you currently write about on your blog?

We started the Homestead Prowlers blog on October 16, 2020 and our blog is all about our 3 cats. We write a little and share some photography but we produce mostly short videos of the cats antics or to share what we are learning about cats.
🐈
Name one thing about your blog, or one blogging goal that you accomplished during 2020, that made you most proud.

We concentrated on getting up and running last year so we’re happy we were able to do that. We wanted to get started to get into a groove.
🐈
Which of your 2020 posts was most popular with your audience? Why do you think it does so well?

I think all of our posts did about the same. I don’t really see any that stood out more than the others at this time.
🐈
What was the biggest blogging challenge you faced in 2020, and how did you tackle it?
Trying to come up with good content that would be informational and entertaining while keeping it genuine. We’re still working on it.
🐈
Tell us one thing you learned in 2020 that can help us all become better bloggers.

I learned not to be so hard on myself about each post. If you have something ( photos, video, thoughts), post it! You’ve got to have fun with it!
🐈
What are your top three goals for 2021?

To post more regularly, put out better content and make more time to interact with other bloggers.
🐈
In the perfect world, where do you see yourself and your blog 1 year from now?

Having fun! If we’re not having fun then what is the point? For us there would be no point.
🐈
If you had a $1,000 to spend on your blog how would you spend it?

We would buy a camera. Right now we shoot video with a phone. We shoot photos with the same phone and we also have a Cannon Power Shot which takes good photos but the video is not good with the Power Shot.
🐈
What is one skill you’d like to learn or improve in 2021?

I am working on writing more thoughtful comments when I’m commenting on another bloggers post or responding to a comment on our post.
🐈
If you could ask the pet blogging community for help with one challenge you’re having with your blog, what would it be?

We’ll take any advice you want to give us!
🐈
We hope you got to know us a little better and we look forward to getting to know you, as well!

You are a beautiful mom too.

Thank you, Sandee ~ We appreciate you taking the time to read (and watch) all of our posts. You are great at taking the time to comment and you are always positive. When I am commenting on someone else’s post and I can’t think what to say I have actually asked myself what would Sandee say. You can be my commenting mentor! 😊

We truly enjoy your blog, and the video clips are amazing! Zoe in the snow make me smile, but sheesh, that is way too much snow for my liking, Hah! Maybe she needs some snowshoes…
I only have an iPad and my camera…(Canon SX40), which I have not used to make videos as yet. (Even though I have had it for several years, LOL!)

Thank you for your kind words! Poor Zoe, she is so visible against the snow. We worry about that. The good news is that clip is from last winter and this winter we barely have any snow. I think we could all use some snow shoes, though.
If I did get a new camera, of the kind I think I want, it would take me a long time to figure it out ~ I am the furthest thing from techno or techie, LOL! I should be careful what I wish for.
Have a great weekend! 🐱🐈⬛🐈😊

What a cute website! However, I do love homesteading and cats! I especially love that you have a blog hop for sharing pictures and posts on the cats. That alone is going to bring you some great traffic. Your photos are beautiful and I loved your introduction as well. You have some amazing skills in photography and videos. I think your going to be quite successful this year and cannot wait to see what the new year will bring you! Thank you for sharing your Journey! Wishing you and your furry loved ones a safe, healthy, and prosperous year ahead!

This is absolutely awesome. So authentic. Do you have someone else shooting the video, or were you doing a selfie with kitty. Wonderful photography. I really like your blog. Keep up the great work. I would suggest you check out joining Cat Writers Association, as it is a great way to learn from and meet fellow cat bloggers.

Hi, thank you! I shoot all the video myself. Otis jumped up on me so I turned the phone on us, easy breezy. I quickly peeked at CWA and I will definitely be checking it out more closely ~ thanks for bringing them to my attention. Have a great weekend!

Congratulations on getting your blog started in 2020! Taking that first step is one of the most difficult things. I do enjoy taking pics with my DSLR, but the cameras on phones are getting so good you sometimes can’t tell the difference and it’s so much easier to carry around. That being said it’s nice to have the DSLR for any photoshoot and I have thought about getting a mirrorless camera. As far as advice goes I think it depends on your goals. Since you do a lot of video if you haven’t already you might think about starting a YouTube channel or maybe one of the other social video platforms. Thanks for participating in the Pet Bloggers Journey. I hope you have a great 2021!

Thanks much, Colby. We are on YouTube, Rumble and BitChute. You are right about the phones, much easier to have in my pocket and be ready to shoot!

Heck, don’t worry about getting a fancy camera for video – REALLY!
I love my iPhone 6S for video and would not swap it to create video on my DSLR (a basic Canon 11300D) Your phone creates quality footage and this is good enough for blogs, Instagram and Facebook! Phones are light, manoeuvrable and slip into your pocket – I relish this versatility 100%
Now go make movies!!!

I must admit, my phone is rather handy. There is gteat video I would have missed if I didn’t have it my pocket. I thought a better camera might be better for my YouTube and Rumble channels which ties into my blog. However, I have been using a phone camera for years and I’m content. Ok, I’m off to film something, LOL! Thank you for your thoughts and have a wonderful day!

I love that you focus so much on the importance of having fun in this post. That’s SO incredibly true! Sure, there are many benefits to blogging including the possibility of an income (side hustle or first time), networking, etc. However, if you aren’t enjoying what you’re doing, it’s going to show! I am a firm believer that people can tell if you’re publishing content that you don’t feel a connection to. It just doesn’t come through in the same way.
This is the first time that I’m coming across your blog (thanks to the Pet Bloggers Journey), but I’m looking forward to digging into your posts and keeping up with everything exciting that’s yet to come as we move into 2021.

Hi! Thanks for reading and for your comment ~ I think if you love what you’re doing then the other stuff will come naturally. I mean, I would love to make some money but I don’t want that to turn into my obsession. It’s nice to meet you. 👍😊

Congratulations on your new blog. This is so very exciting. My best advice is to have fun and not take it all so seriously. SEO, backlinks, Google algorithm changes, and the rest can be a bummer if you let it get to you. I found that when I’m having fun with my blog and my followers, the rest sorts itself out because none of it feels like a chore. But when I’m stressing out, it all feels hard and I have trouble gaining momentum.
I wish you all the best in 2021.
